I'm sure that everyone knows what superstitions are, and even if you don't, I'm sure you must have heard of it at least once or twice. I too knows some superstitions and some of I might even believe in it.
As a Malaysian, especially girls, you must have probably heard of this superstition where 'if you don't finish up your rice, you might have a not so good looking boyfriend.' Well, I have a similar superstition that was made up by my mom and till this day, I still believe in in.
The superstition is a story where there used to be a pair of siblings who loved to eat. They would usually visit many restaurants and order almost everything off the menu. Here comes to problem, every single time, they are unable to finished up the food and therefore the food go to waste.
They kept on doing this until one fine day, the older sister fell sick and unfortunately pass away within a short period of time after being hospitalised. The devastated younger sister mourn her sister's passing for quite a long time.
One night, as the younger sister was asleep, she had a dream about her sister. She was so happy to see her again and she rushed to her sister. As she reached her sister, she was stunned to see her sister sitting beside a rubbish bin and eating foods out from it.
Shocked to witness this, the younger sister the look down the rubbish bin and to her surprise, those food were the food they wasted all this while. The younger sister quickly opened her and was in relief that it was just a dream. However, the dream did left a big impact on her.
From that day onwards, the younger sister would only order food to her portion and not waste any of them. She doesn't want to end up like her sister eating food out of the rubbish bin.
My mom only wanted to teach us sisters a lesson about not wasting food, but unlike my two younger siblings who were stubborn, I got trap in this superstition and started believing it. I never once wasted my food, but when I do, I would say "I'll see you in my rubbish bin when I die."😂😂 My mom and my sisters would just make fun of me for believing it.
So, this is one of the superstition that I believe in, although it may sounds ridiculous to eat out from a rubbish bin after you die but who knows? What if it is real... DUN DUN DUNNN..
